February 24, 2026 “Hope in Small Steps!”

I hope wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you right where you are.

I have several people in my life with whom I connect because we share daily challenges with mental health and substance misuse. We support one another. We share tears and celebrate joyful moments. We also help connect each other to resources that support our Recovery.

At times, Recovery can feel frustrating. Why is that? We may believe that once we commit to Recovery, our lives should quickly turn around. Some of us have the financial means to access help and services. Many others do not. Some people want to heal but lack the resources to do so.

Those without resources may feel like their Recovery is going nowhere. If this is you, I want you to know I value connecting with you. I do not see this as “wasting time.” Some people focus only on big problems—lack of funding, too few therapists, or a shortage of psychiatrists.

Do we ever feel discouraged by this? Some of us feel this way now and then. Others feel it often. Recovery invites us to think long thoughts and stay focused on the long journey. Even small resources, when seen over time, can have a powerful impact.

I once knew a man named Ted, a military veteran living with severe depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He had worked with therapists, but they came and went like a revolving door. Ted felt worn down by a system that was meant to help him. With limited income, he often had to choose between services, medication, or buying food.

While Ted’s situation felt very limited, he did have one steady source of support. He attended a peer support group every week. Ted shared, “It is the one constant I can count on, and it is free.”

We may face limits in the help available to us. Still, we can remain hopeful. Support can be found, no matter our circumstances. You are invited to join a free virtual support group on Thursday evenings from 6–7 PM Support Groups – SuperHuman Being

Recovery relationships can truly change our lives. We can grow and heal, even where we are today. Hope is a strong and living energy within us. Take one small step today toward healing and Recovery.

Remember, Recovery is here right now, in this very moment.
