September 12, 2025 “Clothed in Faith!”

Some of us enjoy listening to peers in Recovery when they use metaphors. One friend shared that when we are young, we can dress ourselves and go wherever we choose. But as we grow older, others may dress us, and we might need a walker or wheelchair to move from place to place.

This can be hard to hear. Our peer reminded us, “Someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” Yet they spoke with calmness, not bitterness.

Through Recovery, we learn to accept help with humility. With God—our higher power—darkness can be transformed into light, and pain into celebration. Faith makes this possible.

When we consistently practice the principles of Recovery, we find the strength to face difficult memories and the courage for the future. We clothe ourselves with faith and discover the freedom to seek the support we need to heal and Recover.
