The eagle, known for its ability to soar high and see far, reminds us of what Recovery can offer—a clear vision of healing and hope.
Each step of Recovery takes us deeper. From the very beginning, these steps gently guide us toward freedom: In the beginning was the step, and the steps held the promise of freedom—and they are freedom.
Like an eagle in flight, the steps lift us to see the bigger picture. We are more than human; we are becoming whole. Recovery reveals freedom through a spiritual lens and invites us to experience the boundless love of God, or our Higher Power.
12 Steps
Mental Wellness
- We believe that Recovery is possible. With courage and hope, we commit to overcoming the internal and external barriers that stand in our way.
- We acknowledge that we are powerless over our condition and trust that a loving spiritual presence will lead us toward true freedom.
- We choose actions and practices that nourish our Recovery and reflect our desire to heal.
- We share our Recovery Plan with our Higher Power and at least one trusted person, knowing that healing grows in honesty and connection.
- We seek wisdom from the Recovery experiences we engage in, understanding that learning expands our capacity to transform.
- We surrender to the will of our Higher Power, letting go of self-reliance and walking in faith instead.
- We humbly receive the unconditional love and compassion of our Higher Power and those who walk beside us.
- We embrace healing through relationships and peer support. We name these people in our Recovery Plan and give thanks for their presence in our lives.
- We release shame, guilt, and past shortcomings, knowing we were created to love and be loved.
- We remain curious about our mental wellness, making space to grow and adapt as we deepen in our Recovery.
- We honor that Recovery is a sacred journey. Through prayer, reflection, imagery, or mindfulness, we seek guidance and strength to take the next right step.
- As we listen to the voice of our Higher Power, we gain insight and self-awareness. We live out these spiritual principles, walking beside others on the path to healing.
