What does it mean in Recovery to be born again? There are several paths we can take. I am sitting in my home office typing this blog. Before being seated I cracked open a window about one inch in length. The wind is strong I can hear it but I am uncertain where it comes from and where it goes.
To be born again in Recovery we must broaden what we see. This grows our minds and spirits. The easy part is our ability to see the wind through the waving of the trees and flags on a flagpole. In Recovery, we cannot see the wind coming and going.
When our hearts are open we figure out where the wind comes from and where it goes. Be aware in the moment of the presence of the spirit and we will be born again.
When we search deep enough we become transformed into a new person. Birth is renewed several times throughout our lifetime. We can’t change the world but we can change what is in front of us. The antidotes for this transformation are love, recognizing our blessings, and receiving grace. The first step is loving ourselves and in turn, loving our neighbor.
