I hope wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you right where you are.
Recently, a friend sent me a document about the meaning of conviction. Conviction leads to life, healing, and restoration. But how does it fit with Recovery?
Conviction helps us see Recovery clearly so we can turn toward it.
Conviction draws us closer to Recovery, not away from it.
Conviction brings a kind of sorrow that leads us to make amends to those we have hurt.
Conviction helps us see the difference between health and illness.
Conviction is rooted in truth.
Conviction helps restore our relationships.
Conviction builds self-respect and leads to real change.
When I first began Recovery, my understanding was shallow. After a few years, I realized something was missing. Part of it was that I did not see how my childhood trauma affected my life. Another part was a lack of conviction. I did not feel fully alive. My heart and mind were not working together in healing.
Today, I see that conviction was what I needed. Each day, I pray and meditate so I can stay connected to Recovery. I ask God for forgiveness for my shortcomings. When I let go of extra burdens, I find more clarity in my Recovery.
Conviction helps me live in truth instead of believing lies about myself. It brings grace into my life. It teaches me to love myself and show compassion. It removes shame and guilt that do not belong to me. It also makes room for my imperfections.
Conviction deepens our Recovery. It frees us to become the person we are meant to be.
What steps can you take today to bring conviction into your Recovery?
Remember, Recovery is here right now, in this very moment.
