October 27, 2025 “Choosing to Grow in Recovery!”

How does our Recovery benefit from attending a weekly support group or regular therapy sessions? For some, it’s a reset—a way to return to our Recovery path. For others, it’s the accountability and healing that come through connection. When we commit to this journey, we gain wisdom and grow alongside others in Recovery.

Many of us struggle at times with exhaustion, lack of motivation, or distractions that pull us away from Recovery. But we are created to heal—spiritually, mentally, and physically. Support groups and therapy are gifts that guide and sustain that healing.

Each day, we can choose to say yes to Recovery and no to the influences that shortchange progress. I try to live this out through intentional practices: morning devotionals, attending two support groups each week, a monthly therapy session, a psychiatry appointment every three months, and daily mindfulness meditation between 3:00 and 4:00 PM. I also pray daily, write a blog, and unwind with a crossword or a 2,000-piece puzzle with my wife.

These practices may look different for each one of us; that is ok. Through them, we discover peace, purpose, and a deeper connection with God and others. This formation not only blesses us but also strengthens our marriages, families, and the world around me.
