Picture us in a village, 90 miles from home, gathered with five peers in Recovery. Peter has welcomed us into his house for a meal. Normally, we’re a lively group, but today the air feels heavy. We sit quietly, weighed down by discouragement and clouded thoughts, as if hope has slipped away.
Looking at us with kindness, Peter says, “Recovery has come that you may have life, and have it to the full.” Yet the room remains dim, our spirits restless, our hearts unmoved.
Sometimes, the people around us cannot lift us. In those moments, we can turn to God—higher power—sharing our weariness in prayer and meditation. Even in silence, light stirs within.
