Day two of reduction in a medication I take for my mental health condition. I slept fairly well. I am experiencing some drowsiness this morning. The psychiatrist informed me this could point to being over-medicated. I mentioned yesterday our hormonal levels change as we age, they need to be factored into the evaluation process. Due to gasterintesinal issues, specifically severe constipation this can impact mental health, mood, and stamina. I will report back on Monday on how I am doing.
Recovery teaches that our healing is a light for others, not hidden or only for ourselves. When we take this journey of Recovery, we proclaim our progress from the rooftops. Do we practice Recovery without fear? How many people are inspired to become healed through our example, our knowledge, and our hope? Recovery is not something we should keep secret.
The 12-step says, “We gain insight into our recovery through our Higher Power as we model these steps, and share our journey toward hope, healing, and health with people.” Our practice of Recovery is not just following the steps but radiating faith and sharing it generously with others. We genuinely are concerned with others having the experience of connection, hope, and healing.
If we don’t radiate Recovery in our lives we may fall short in healing no matter how healed our interior life may be. To be in Recovery means taking a risk to connect with other people who have mental health or substance misuse conditions. We demonstrate this in our words and actions. Jesus tells us, “To the one who has more will be given more. From one who has not even what he has will be taken away.”
In Recovery, we gain by giving to others and growing our inner life. When we do this in love we will truly find ourselves in Recovery
