Sometimes I come to the end of my day full of activities rolling around in my head. I neglected to hold the door open for a person entering the grocery store, when my daughter left our home I did not tell her I love her, I was impatient when helping my father, and remaining silent about an issue that I needed to speak up about.
When I lay my head down to sleep, a mind purification occurs. When awaken I realize a renewal of my mind occurred. This helps our bodies to be strong enough to participate in the day’s activities. The missteps of the previous day are washed clean and lessons are learned for times to come.
Despite my shortcomings, my wife and I at the end of our days remind ourselves of the blessings and graces of the day. I believe it keeps our hearts soft and provides us a reminder of the importance of self-compassion for others and ourselves.
How do you approach reflecting on your day?
How can you incorporate into your routine reminding yourself about the day’s blessings and graces?
Peace
Larry
