March 13, 2024 The Editor

I belong to a writer’s group titled, “Inklings”. When I began my writing career 4 years ago I was looking for people I could share my writing with and learn what it takes to be an author. I searched on the internet to see what I might find. My search proved to be fruitful and I called the person who facilitated the group. They met monthly and I was invited to join them to determine if it was a good fit for me.

The facilitator was Jim Alf. He authored some books, and several short stories, and did edits for authors. I wrote the first draft of the manuscript for my book, “SuperHuman Being” Jim did the editing for me. I admit I was a fish out of water. This was my first attempt to become an author. He was available to answer questions I asked more than once due to lapses in my memory.

Humorously he would ask if I was tired of the red ink he used to correct my grammar, sentence structure, and other editing suggestions. Jim was kind, compassionate, loved people (especially writers and authors), dedicated to his wife who suffered from Alzheimer’s and died a few years ago, and a true patriot.

I found out this morning from a friend who is in Inklings that Jim went home to our Lord at 5:00 a.m. My heart is heavy for this loss. My friend told me last evening when we spoke on the phone that Jim was ready. He suffered several years with breathing and was on oxygen the entire time I knew him. His passing will be a celebration of life because that is what he wants us to do.

Jim my friend rest in peace. You no longer need to gasp for breath since heaven will now provide what you need.

Peace

Larry
