March 14, 2026 Influencers

During my lifetime I have associated with several influencers. Throughout my basketball career, I connected with people both nationally and internationally. I met Stephen M. R. Covey, who wrote the “Speed of Trust”. You may be familiar with his father’s work (Stephen R. Covey), “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”. There are others too numerous to mention here.

These people were famous and known by many. I appreciate the wisdom they bestowed on me as I grew intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. My selection of influencers has evolved during my healing and Recovery. There are wonderful people committed to healing in the support groups I attend. Most are ordinary folks who are not star athletes, famous authors, or business owners.

I view myself as an ordinary person who opens my heart seeking people that will support my healing. In return, I want to share with people what is in my heart to help them develop the mind of Recovery.

I wrote yesterday about the death of my good friend Jim Alf. Jim was an ordinary man with a heart of gold. We will not hear on the evening news of his passing nor will a movie be made about his life. However, he influenced the heart and soul of people including myself.

Who are the influencers in your life?

What characteristics do you look for in people you connect with?

Peace

Larry
