April 21, 2026 “From Grief to New Life!”

I hope wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you right where you are.

Daily devotionals can help us grow deeper in our spiritual, emotional, and Recovery lives. Grief can shape how we see the world. It shows us what is possible and what is not. Why do we weep? What are we searching for when we grieve?

Grief comes when something breaks. A relationship ends. A hope is lost. Or life shows us a reality we did not choose. When we feel grief and disappointment, we begin to adjust our lives. In these moments, we may ask: what is Recovery asking of us?

When we grieve, many of us focus on what we have lost. We may stay committed to Recovery, but still feel confused. We can go to support groups, talk with a peer specialist, and see a therapist, yet still feel stuck in grief.

When we keep weeping without understanding, we stay in that place of pain. But when we begin to explore our grief, we open the door to something deeper. Recovery is not just going back to how life was. It is the start of something new. It can restore what was lost—or bring something even greater.

I faced my own grief many years ago. As a child, I was hurt both physically and emotionally. For a long time, I carried grief, anger, and disappointment. But when I began to understand how trauma shaped my life, things started to change. I stopped living only in the past. I began to see my life in a new way, and slowly, grief lost its hold on me.

I wanted more. I wanted to feel alive in the present, not trapped in old pain. I surrendered to God. He continues to teach me how to see endings in a new light. He is guiding me into a new life—as a healthier spouse, father, and author.

Recovery can lead us to a full and meaningful life. If you are carrying grief from long ago, ask yourself: how can I find peace today? You do not have to let grief steal the joy that still lives within your heart.

Remember, Recovery is here right now, in this very moment.
