April 14, 2026 “Will We Remain?”

I hope wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you right where you are.

Do you remember when you first began your Recovery journey for mental health and substance misuse?

At that time, we may have felt strong emotions and a deep connection. We may have felt clear and present in our daily lives. But as the years passed, those feelings may have faded. We may notice our excitement for Recovery is not as strong as it once was.

There is a quiet temptation to believe that because we once felt something, it will always stay the same. But Recovery does not work that way. The answer is to remain in the present moment.

Self-awareness helps us stay close to Recovery. It helps us go deeper in our healing. Even when we do not feel strong or clear, we can still choose to act in faith. We can remain, no matter how we feel in the moment.

Faith is a gift from Recovery. It takes courage to receive it. Sometimes we must take risks. Sometimes we must think deeply and even struggle. We cannot take our Recovery for granted. We must care for it each day.

I understand how hard it can be to remain on this path when the feelings are not there. There are days when I want to skip my Recovery practices. Recently, I had a therapy appointment. It was hard to get ready for it. I told myself, “I don’t have anything to talk about.” I wanted to skip it.

But when I went, I realized I was feeling anxious about my health and changes in my medication. That moment helped me remain, even when I did not want to. Often, when we feel like stopping, that is when we need Recovery the most.

Some people stop their Recovery work because the fire inside burns out. Their motivation fades. In those moments, we can ask ourselves one simple question:

Will we remain?

Remember, Recovery is here right now, in this very moment.
