Yearning is the soul’s restlessness, a deep desire for connection, meaning, and wholeness. In the grip of mental health or substance misuse struggles, we often yearn for what harms us: substances, possessions, or relationships that
wound rather than heal. It is “looking for love in all the
wrong places.”
Recovery invites us to move beyond the ego’s cravings and step out of the prisons we build around ourselves. By surrendering to the process, we face our fears and embrace healthier desires. Let your yearning call you to love, to risk your heart, and to become the person you are meant to be.
