March 27, 2026 “Finding Balance in Recovery!”

I hope wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you right where you are.

Recovery is about balance. The real power of the 12 Steps comes from holding two truths at the same time. When we are strong, we remember how little we can do on our own. When we are struggling, we remember that we can still do much with help.

People in Recovery welcome the gift of healing. They try to stay steady during times of spiritual darkness. When we are doing well, we stay humble so we do not fall into denial or temptation. When we are hurting, we choose to trust. Moving back and forth between these moments helps us grow with balance and maturity.

This balance comes from daily spiritual awareness. Life will always have highs and lows. We will feel joy at times, and at other times we may feel sadness, temptation, or darkness. Choosing to stay aware of this is the beginning of Recovery. It is also the path to freedom.

When I began Recovery, it was very hard to see life in a hopeful way. I felt lost and focused on my pain, sadness, and struggles with an eating disorder. Even though I wanted to heal, I was not able to find balance. I needed time to grieve, to understand my depression and anxiety, and to face my past.

After several years, I grew tired of holding on to the darkness and unhealthy coping habits. Slowly, I began to let go. I started to feel joy again. I learned not to depend on food for comfort. This helped me begin living a more balanced and peaceful life.

Now, when something goes well, I give the credit to God. I see the good in my life as a gift. When things are hard, or when I feel tempted or sad, I ask God for strength. I remind myself that the darkness will not last forever. It is only temporary.

If we stay grounded where we are, and keep a humble heart in times of healing and a trusting heart in times of darkness, we will keep moving forward. The 12 Steps guide us on this path. Step by step, they lead us toward true freedom.

Remember, Recovery is here right now, in this very moment.
