March 25, 2026 “Light and Darkness in Recovery!”

I hope wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you right where you are.

When we keep a humble and open heart in the light of Recovery, we can also learn to trust during times of darkness. There are moments when we feel tired and unsure, even worn down by life. But these moments do not mean we have lost our way.

When we go deeper into Recovery, it can sometimes feel like we are falling apart. Yet there is good news. In times of light, we feel peace and safety in our hearts and souls. In times of darkness, we may feel the opposite—fear, doubt, and even a sense of being alone. These feelings are familiar to many of us.

This is why self-awareness is so important in Recovery. We learn to notice what is happening inside us. In both light and darkness, we pause with faith and gently reflect on what these moments mean. Even when we suffer, we can hold that pain with calm and without blame. This, too, is part of our spiritual journey.

Many of us move back and forth between light and darkness. Sometimes, we may even feel both at the same time. Early in Recovery, when darkness felt strong, I often felt sad and anxious. I struggled to manage my feelings. But with the grace of God, things began to change.

Now I see that even darkness has meaning. It teaches me. It helps my soul grow. There are times when I feel comfort, and times when I feel lost. There are moments when I get off track. Yet through it all, Recovery keeps me safe. In both sorrow and joy, I am cared for.

Recovery gives freely at times. At other times, it allows darkness. But both light and darkness are held together in love, no matter what I face.

Remember, Recovery is here right now, in this very moment.
