February 3, 2026 “Creating a Healing and Compassionate Home!”

I hope wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you right where you are.

Recently, I have been experiencing trauma that was triggered by painful moments from my past. I have also heard from some of you who are walking through similar experiences.

Last week, I listened to a seminar on trauma-informed leadership. It stirred something in my heart and made me curious about how to build a more compassionate culture in my own family. While many seminars focus on the workplace, the lessons can also bless our homes.

So, what did I learn, and how can it apply to our home lives?

There are many kinds of trauma—spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical. Each one affects us deeply.

We all need support from spouses, friends, and family. Being present, listening with care, and offering understanding can bring comfort and healing.

Each person experiences trauma differently. What helps me may not help you. Because of this, setting healthy boundaries with loved ones is important. For example, in our home, we do not take phone calls after 8:00 p.m. unless it is an emergency.

Sometimes, things around us can trigger old wounds. A movie, a sound, or a memory may bring up feelings from childhood. In those moments, it helps when people in our home can support us and walk alongside us.

It is important to avoid judging those who live with trauma. Instead, we can offer compassion, love, and kindness. This same grace is something we must also give to ourselves when we are triggered.

We can create a loving home community because trauma cannot survive in an environment filled with love. Healing takes place when we can remember painful events without reliving them again and again.

What are you doing to help create a healing culture in your home?

What is one thing you can add to make your home an even safer place for healing?

Remember, Recovery is here right now, in this very moment
