January 9, 2026 “One Step at a Time with Recovery!”

I hope wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you right where you are.

Today’s devotional invites us to trust the leadership of Recovery, even when clarity moves at a slow pace, and the road unfolds one mile at a time.

Recovery is not asking us to lead each day. It asks us to surrender and follow. The promise of the Twelve Steps is not that we will always understand the path ahead, but that we will be guided through it.

The way Recovery leads can challenge our need for certainty. We want a full map. Instead, Recovery offers light for the next step. We want clear plans. Instead, Recovery offers daily spiritual nourishment. The journey is not a straight line. Instead, there will be detours, quiet seasons, questions, and unexpected turns.

When I began my Recovery, I thought it would be finished in a few months. Over time, I learned a hard truth. Recovery moves in God’s or a Higher Power’s time, not mine. I remember asking friends, “When will the suffering be over?”

Recovery never promises the shortest path. God or a Higher Power promises presence. Recovery’s guidance is not cold or mechanical. It is personal and loving. It walks with us like a caring parent, staying close through every step.

Our role as followers is not to figure everything out. Our role is to stay close, to listen, and to respond. Trust is not passive. It is an active choice to lean not on our own understanding, but on Recovery’s steady and faithful truth.

Things may not unfold the way we want, day by day. Still, we are called to follow the One who made the journey possible. If God’s eye is on us, His hand will not fail us. So we offer a simple prayer of trust:
“You lead, Lord. I will follow.”

Remember, Recovery is here right now, in this very moment.

Let us embrace it together.
