November 17, 2025 “The Strength of Surrender!”

I hope that wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you—right where you are.

Sometimes we don’t like challenges because we want life to feel easy. Think about a time when you knew you had to make a hard decision. Were you scared? Most of us face pain and uncertainty in those moments. One of the most misunderstood words in Recovery is surrender.

Many of us see surrender as weakness, giving up, or losing control. But in Recovery, surrender is actually strength. It’s the moment when our efforts end and God—our Higher Power—begins to guide us.

When we pray or reflect on surrender, something shifts. It’s not passive. It doesn’t mean, “I give up.” It means, “I choose to trust. I choose to follow where Recovery leads.” Surrender is a deliberate choice to place our struggles in the hands of the One who sees farther than we do.

It is opening our clenched hands and letting Recovery lead the way. We don’t surrender because we fully understand what’s happening. We surrender because we trust the heart of the One we are giving things over to.

Recovery invites us into this deeper place. It is hard to hear the voice of God—our Higher Power—when we are still holding tightly to our own plans. Surrender is one of the greatest leaps we take in Recovery.

Are we willing to walk the road less traveled? If we are, it will make all the difference. And what will we notice along the way?

Mental clarity. Peace. And a deeper connection with Recovery.
