When we start a new journey, we often wait until everything feels safe and in order before we take action. But Recovery doesn’t wait for certainty—it begins in the middle of our confusion. When we have all the answers, we move out of confidence. When we move in faith, we discover healing.
The power of Recovery meets us in motion, not in maintenance. We often say, “If you fix me, I’ll follow the 12 Steps.” But the truth is, if we follow, we’ll find that healing has already begun.
When Recovery invites us to stretch, it’s not asking us to perform—it’s asking us to participate. That’s the secret of every miracle. The moment we trust more in the Steps than in our weakness, change starts to happen.
Every stretch feels risky. Stretching and forgiveness both take courage. Following asks us to step forward before we know all the details. Healing happens in the stretch, not in the comfort zone. Stretching is the space between trust and fear.
Faith doesn’t deny reality—it teaches us which reality to trust. We can’t stretch and still hold on to control. We can’t stretch while clinging to the past. The stretch looks different for each of us, but the 12 Steps stay the same.
What part of your life is waiting for you to take action? Let’s not let the voices of the past decide what the voice of the future will say.
