September 26, 2025 Who Do People Say I Am?

Sharing our struggles with mental health or substance misuse can feel overwhelming. We wonder, What do people think about me? Some may see courage, others may judge, and a few may misunderstand.

Juan once asked his friends, “Who do people say that I am?” The answers were mixed—some kind, some hurtful. But one voice stood out. His Recovery friend said, “You are a role model of how to live the 12 steps.” That reminder gave Juan hope and strength.

Recovery is not like healing a broken arm. It isn’t quick or simple. It is a lifelong journey of learning what helps us grow, finding support, and leaning on faith when the road feels heavy. We may stumble, but each step teaches us something new.

In the end, the question isn’t just “Who do people say I am?” The deeper question is, “Who am I becoming as I walk this journey of healing?”
