January 30, 2025 Mystery and Faith!

Several ancient people experienced physical healing. Jesus healed Simon Peter’s mother-in-law, who had a fever. We are told Jesus reached for her hand, and the fever left her instantly.

I imagine myself in this scene, astonished by this miraculous example of healing. But as if that were not enough, this healing introduces us to a series of healings that followed. Have we experienced miracles on our journey toward mental wellness?

Ten years ago I stumbled upon, “Depressed Anonymous”. The facilitator has become a confidant and friend to me. This ministry of healing welcomes people with every kind of mental health and substance misuse condition and burden. We come in faith in the hope of finding the healing we need.

We are eager to offer healing to any of us who are wounded and recognize the need to accept our condition. This is an astonishing gift of faith open to all and everyone is invited to the banquet. What miracles have I received from attending these groups? Five years ago I began facilitating another group providing those of us in Recovery two options https://superhumanbeing.net/thursday-zoom-event/ (Join us this evening from 6-7:00 pm, determining the level of medication I require, learning skills such as mindfulness, and connections with other like-minded people. These connections taught me self-compassion, they were nonjudgmental, and I experienced genuine love.

God is at work in all of us. We may not experience the type of healing Jesus did but God sends us resources through our brothers and sisters to find some healing and peace on this earth. Our brains may not be completely healed which remains a mystery. Healing love is extended through the Recovery community and when we turn to Jesus in faith we place our trust in God and each other through the miracles of daily living.
