January 22, 2025 “Yes”!

Recovery comes to unlock us out of the shadows of darkness, the mind liberates us and brings us to freedom. Recovery and practicing the principles offered to us are the key to a renewed mind, heart, and soul.

When we return to health many of us wonder what our purpose in life is. How do we go about finding meaning in our lives? Mary was first and foremost a contemplative woman. She held many things in her heart and was ready to rejoin her community of friends and relatives. She shows us how to meditate on the mysteries of Recovery.

Mary took 15 minutes each day to ponder the 12 steps, and other spiritual messages, and to rid herself of guilt and shame. She shared her plan of care with members of a support group she attended each week. Her meditation time was closely protected free of distractions.

All of us in some way ponder what is good discernment, what is Recovery calling us to do? Perhaps 2024 was difficult and we did not know what Recovery was calling us to do. We can look to 2025 perhaps asking ourselves to do something more deeply or profound or if we understand what Recovery has called us to we can ponder deeper and greater what Recovery is calling us to do in love.

Mary is an excellent model of meditating on the mystery of Recovery for humanity and ourselves. She pondered the gifts of Recovery and made a choice. Her choice was to take action and bring forth her purpose and meaning in life. Mary said, “Yes” to Recovery and began to exercise, eat healthily, financially support herself, set aside time to meditate each day, attend therapy, take her medication, attend a weekly support group, and socialize with family and friends.

When we say, “Yes” to Recovery we are following in the footsteps of Mary. Moving through 2025 we need to incorporate Mary a little more in our meditation and pondering time because she can help us get to that free, “Yes” and that yes and freedom always go back to a purpose-driven life.

If we are having trouble knowing what our God (Higher) wants of us we have to ponder his message in our hearts and like Mary have the freedom and courage no matter what to say, “Yes” to him.
