There will be no blog post on Friday, October 11, 2024. I will be on the road to see one of my mentors, whom I have known for about 40 years. I will return with a new blog post on Monday, October 14, 2024.
Certain tales and stories get connected to us throughout our lives. I’ve never lived down the example when I tore my grandmother’s bed sheets along with my cousins. I was probably ten years old and we got a little rough before falling asleep. This story still comes up occasionally when my cousins and I get together.
When I share two reflections at each support group meeting I facilitate some themes come up. The reflections I write are foundational to who we are. These insights urge us to become who we are supposed to be. First, we dedicate our lives to a lifestyle of Recovery; our lives have purpose and meaning. A friend suggested I write a book about my story of Recovery. I thought to myself, “Who will want to read it”? Well since the book has been published I have done several signing events and many people have purchased the book directly from me and Amazon. https://superhumanbeing.net/
Recovery calls us to be aware of those in our midst. There are many broken hearts in our families and community which calls us to share our healing with them. Henry Nouwen in his classic book, “Wounded Healer” says, “In our source of soundness we can become a source of light for others”. Perfection is not needed. But to heal the brokenhearted we need to expose our wounded hearts. Healing and soundness are a part of all of our lives. There is a chance of great identification when we look within.
We have or are captives of our wounds. We believe a Power greater than ourselves is the path to hope, healing, and health. We have the power to give ourselves and other people the security and freedom we deserve as a gift from our Higher Power (God). Let’s meditate on living more authentically each day truly bringing liberty and release to those that have been placed in our lives. Oh yeah, it will free us as well.
