September 5, 2024 Mercy Not Sacrifice!

Today I want us to focus on the following steps:

#8 We acknowledge our behaviors have impacted our relationships. We list those affected by our behavior and whenever possible become willing to reconcile or thank them for their support during a relapse or mental health crisis.

#9 We seek mutual reconciliation for a harmful action we committed and seek forgiveness from those we harmed or were impacted by our behavior. Then, let go of our shame because it no longer serves a purpose in our lives, we understand we were designed because we are loved and to be in relationships with other people.

These two steps hit home to what is happening in our healing world. These steps desire mercy from us not sacrifice. Recovery is showing us what healing looks like. We do not need to wait for the ideal day to seek mercy. Recovery is the reason we stay on the road to healing.

We desire mercy not sacrifice, What does that mean? We can be alive and present wherever we are because participating in healing can be done everywhere. We seek mercy not sacrifice. Recovery strengthens our connections with people placing them at the center of our healing.

Maybe this weekend we can offer a person in our lives whom we are having trouble with a little bit of mercy so we can find unity or let another person know how sorry we are for hurting them. When I do this I experience a mindful peace and a lightness returns to my body, heart, and soul.
