March 21, 2024 Choosing To Do It

People may wonder if they are actively implementing a Recovery plan. I ask myself if I am taking concrete steps to integrate all the tools I have been taught to support healing. Generally, three elements help me evaluate my progress: first, the Recovery Act, the tool chosen; second, knowing that it is a tool that can help me; and third, choosing to use it.

All three elements need to be present for me to be actively practicing my Recovery Plan. Several years ago a therapist recommended I attend a weekly support group. I realized it is a tool that helps me stay on track. I choose to attend the group one time per week. I found a Peer Support Group helpful because of the relationships I developed. Three years ago I decided I wanted to facilitate a virtual group. This occurs on Thursday evenings from 6-7:00 p.m. https://superhumanbeing.net/thursday-zoom-event/

Another example of using the three elements to practice my Recovery Plan. My therapist has suggested on numerous occasions that attend mindfulness training. I have sincerely contemplated attending a training I believe it may help me. However, I have not acted on this tool for a whole host of reasons.

I know I need to take responsibility for my decisions to aid my Recovery. I believe I have made prudent choices using the tools I find helpful. When I decide not to implement tools that may help me I could place my relationship with the 12 steps and those I love in jeopardy.

The three elements are helpful for us to assess our progress in Recovery and help in other areas of our lives. My hope for us is a soft heart and open mind to aid in our Recovery and become the best version of ourselves.

Peace

Larry
