I participate in a Zoom meeting once per week with authors from around the world. During our time together we commit to being kind toward one another, being specific with our feedback, and being helpful to each other to grow as authors.
When I prepare to write I notice defeating thoughts dominating my mind. Examples include; “What gives me the right to share my story” “I am no good” or “Just keep my thoughts to myself”. When I listen to my heart I receive a drastically different dialogue, “You deserve happiness”, “I am loving and kind”, or “I am curious, full of wonder, and allow my imagination to help me create.
I am learning I am not alone when it comes to engineering the head and heart. I notice from support groups I attend, individual conversations with another person, and those who give me feedback on my book how easy it is to intellectualize our Recovery.
What is the truth about Recovery? Turn down the volume of our head. We are hard-wired to use our creative minds. When we stop seeking approval from people or do not isolate ourselves from people, our hearts are able to connect with our hearts.
Taking a small step today to listen more to our hearts will make a big difference in our lives. Watch our lives unfold based on where we are at right now. We don’t want to miss the miracle that is our lives.
Peace
Larry
