Family and Friends may look at us and see a broken heart. And as we look, our eyes begin to recognize the anguish and agony we experience inside of ourselves.
How can family and friends support us? When someone in Recovery is down you can listen and weep for their sadness and anxiety. You can encourage them to connect with a Recovery community such as a Peer Support Group. You can advocate to the mental health community (healthcare and politicians) for the multitudes who are suffering from no access to mental health services. You can offer to take a person to a counseling appointment or participate in a session if your loved one grants permission.
Helping a person in Recovery is a selfless act. To offer yourself as a living sacrifice to serve those for whom your heart is drawn to.
Peace
Larry
