October 8, 2026: “Grace, Freedom, and the Gift of Recovery!”

I hope that wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you.

Recovery seems to ask us to accept major losses, human limitations, and life’s brevity. Feeling this sadness can, ironically, draw us deeper into the dance of healing. It can connect us to something greater than ourselves—a unified field of healing, where we discover a deep gratitude for what we have been given.

Spiritual gratitude is a gift of grace. It comes from a source beyond our ego or effort. Grace seems to be at the very foundation of Recovery.

Recovery is the freedom to say yes or no. This freedom allows us to say no, especially when we are tempted to deny our Recovery, hide our struggles, avoid our mistakes, or pretend we never fall. Recovery is willing to wait for us. It gives us the freedom to choose a genuine “yes.”

Love grows in an environment of freedom.

Recovery is a broad education in passion, darkness, and light. We learn by going deep and staying present to our own lives. My lived experience has given me a community that holds me accountable for what I believe, say, and do. That accountability is necessary for me to live out my Recovery journey.

Recovery gives us the tools and patience to help fill what Parker Palmer calls “the tragic gap”—the space between what is and what we hope can be. Anyone with a thinking mind and a beating heart knows this gap.

But remember this: even a little Recovery is worth loving. Even a little truth and a little love can go a long way.

Recovery continues to tell me the truth while loving me through the hard places. It patiently walks with me until I arrive somewhere new, somewhere good, and somewhere more deeply healing.

What are you discovering about your Recovery journey?

What gentle action are you taking today to move toward healing?

Remember, Recovery is happening right now, in this moment.
