I hope wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you right where you are.
Before Recovery, control often ruled our lives. For many of us, its roots trace to trauma: betrayal by someone we trusted, or growing up with a parent facing mental health, substance misuse, or trauma struggles. Our responses varied. Either we fought to achieve and lead to feel powerful, or we rebelled through substance misuse, harming people, or crime. Both gave us a false sense of purpose.
Recovery calls us to humility, to release control and surrender mind, heart, and soul to God (our Higher Power). Surrender may feel threatening or uncomfortable, yet it is the doorway to healing, freedom, and a life rooted in peace and connection.
