I hope wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you right where you are.
Recovery shows us how to lose the life we once knew so we can find a new life filled with hope, comfort, strength, and, in time, triumph. Sometimes people talk about Recovery as if it is grand and beautiful. But in truth, Recovery often begins on a dreary, dark day. It does not start with glamour. It starts with suffering.
Recovery grows through compassion. This means learning to love ourselves and to care for the people in our lives. Compassion is both a gift and a strength that grows in us. The deeper truth of Recovery is that it often leads us through a door of suffering before it brings us into a room filled with love.
Imagine Recovery as a cross. There is a sacrifice in letting go of what once felt comfortable. We are asked to face our shame, fear, feelings of abandonment, and deep pain. This can be very hard. Yet the cross is also a sign of hope. It reminds us that strength and victory can grow out of suffering.
The cross becomes a key to our hearts and souls. The more we accept this journey, the deeper we experience Recovery. When we walk through the door and face our suffering, we begin to discover faith, hope, and love.
Faith draws us closer to the mystery of healing. It grows when we stop running away from our suffering.
Hope becomes our anchor. It gives us a strong foundation and reminds us that Recovery can win, even when the road is hard.
Love for ourselves and for others helps us carry our suffering with courage. Love also helps us let go of ego and pride. When we do this, bitterness and anger no longer control our lives.
Recovery stays with us even on our worst days. And in time, Recovery opens the door to transformation, healing, peace, and triumph.
Remember, Recovery is here right now, in this very moment.
