October 3, 2025 “A Friendship with Recovery!”

Ten years ago, my life was very dark. At home, I prayed for God’s strength to lift me out of my sadness and anxiety. Sometimes, I went to church, begging Him to take away my suffering. In quiet moments, I felt God whisper that healing would come in His time, not mine. Others in Recovery told me the same truth.

What I’ve learned in the past decade is this: Recovery is a daily conversion of life and an ongoing surrender. It invites us into friendship with the 12 steps. That friendship begins when we believe healing is possible and commit to facing the barriers in our way.

Through prayer, reflection, and daily devotion, we learn to listen to God—or our Higher Power. Sometimes, on our knees, we grow in friendship with Recovery and slowly learn to love ourselves. From this devotion flows a spiritual awakening that moves us to action.

Each day, we are invited to renew our commitment. Even with busy schedules, we can take time to pray, reflect, or read from a daily devotional. These small steps turn into lasting devotion, and Recovery becomes a living presence in our lives.

Speaking of a Daily Devotional, I have been writing one that will cover 365 days and follow the 12-step format. I expect publication to occur in February 2026. It will be a great tool for our daily Recovery journey.
