Recovery is hard, but recovery is possible. We can manage the emotional turmoil we feel despite the snowstorm swirling around us. Self-awareness helps us measure the impact our inner dialogue has on our lives. Be curious about our thoughts and feelings. Let go of the thoughts and feelings that do not support our Recovery. When we name our thoughts and feelings, we tame them.
Thoughts and feelings are like snowflakes. Remember when we were children and snowflakes fell from the sky? There were many we let fall to the ground. Others we let drop onto our tongue. The thoughts and feelings we kept were flakes we let fall onto our tongues to tingle our taste buds. The flakes that fell to the ground eventually melted away. By speaking aloud or noting our thoughts and feelings, we have the power to change our inner weather.
