The most important scene in the movie The Wizard of Oz is at the end, when Dorothy realizes she has had the power all along to go home. She needed to click her heels together and say, “There is no place like home.”
Sometimes, home can be a place of frustration and anxiety. Recovery uses common places to teach us some of the most important tenets of healing. Patience, forgiveness, love, and faith live within us and the Recovery family. Yet it is hard to live in Recovery.
Faith is effort, healing is effort, and family is effort. It is all worth it. There indeed is “No place like home.” It is through the work of active healing at home and beyond that we behold the face of Recovery.
