April 3, 2025 “Professing Hope” – Part #2

There are three steps to making hope a reality in our lives. According to Pam Sininck, We profess hope, we seek hope, and we share hope by bringing it into the world.

We covered professing hope yesterday, now, we will move on to learn how to seek hope in our lives. How do we seek hope in our Recovery lives? Pam says, “We need to find it in our world.”

Pope Francis says, “We must walk through the door of hope. We need to be active in finding hope. We are to discover hope in the signs of the times that the Lord gives us.”

We get hope from our Recovery right now. We can find hope in the time we have been given on this earth. Pam says, “This is important because when we look around us, what do we see? We see a lot of anger, hatred, crime, poverty, disease, illness, (substance misuse) and more hatred.”

People in Recovery say, “My home life is dysfunctional, things are horrible right now, I can’t stop misusing substances, and doctors don’t know how to help me.”

If we seek hope and Recovery, there is good in that awfulness, and that is what we need to look for. Sometimes, it takes an active desire to see hope and to find it. It is easy to be saturated by awful things and tempting to think we will not attain mental wellness. But we were made to Recover, we are ‘good’.

Pam says, ” Hope is not pie in the sky. I am not saying everything is amazing, but we must look for hope. Evil exists I don’t believe we should give evil staying power. I don’t believe we give evil more than it already has. We need to give good power we need to give love power. The more we focus on the good the more we seek the good, the more we find the good we give good power – staying power.”

Next time, we will continue with Pam’s perspective on seeking hope. How do we seek to find hope in our lives? If you are willing to share with me what this means for you, it will help me understand your perspective on this important effort.
