March 14, 2025 “Return To Recovery!”

Happy Friday everyone! I spent five hours working on taxes today and feel much lighter since I am about 90% finished.

Recovery invites us to reflect, pray, meditate, or ponder our journey from the moment we entered healing deeply through the present moment.

We resolve to let Recovery’s word be a light to accompany us on our way. Think about these words, “Even now says our inner voice return to healing with our whole heart, return to the action steps that have carried us thus far.” Two months ago we began a New Year with resolutions for a fresh start and when we fall behind our best intentions and resolutions we can be grateful that Recovery is always here.

Recovery gives us a chance to return to healing our hearts, which is the source of new life and peace. As we take these steps on the journey, we may ask, “What does it mean to return to Recovery?” The 12 steps remind us that Recovery is the all-powerful creator and sustainer for healing.

Our stories introduce us to God (Higher Power) who desires friendship with us more than we can imagine. Why? Because he is love, we are loved by God not because we earn this love but because God is love, which brings us to grace. Grace is Recovery’s power and strength active in our lives as we open our hearts and minds to healing.

All around us, voices tell us “We are not worthy of the grace and peace that Recovery offers.” Recovery returns us time and time again to find hope, return to find unconditional love rich in kindness, forgiveness, and mercy. God’s love is well behind our limited human imaging. If we are Christian, we believe we come from God and we will return someday. I attended the Ash Wednesday service a few weeks ago. Ashes on our foreheads remind us of this truth of faith.

Like Ash Wednesday Recovery calls each one of us to the source of love. On the journey of healing, we let go of anxiety, fears, doubts, and indifference and confidently return to Recovery which is rich in mercy and relentless in loving us.
