February 25, 2025 “It is going to be o.k.!”

Today is a special day in our family. Our patriarch, my father celebrates his 86th birthday. My respect, healing, and love for my dad run deep. In my book, I share the transformation we both underwent to heal our relationship. https://superhumanbeing.net/ If you have not already and want to walk on this spiritual journey with us, pick up a copy of my book, “SuperHuman Being”. Happy Birthday, Dad!

I recall hearing from an acquaintance, his very close friend announcing he was entering the seminary. He had a vibrant ministry, several graduate degrees, and a doctorate. Many people were worried about him. At a sending forth dinner he gave each of the people in attendance a sign he professionally had made. It simply said, “It is going to be o.k..”

It represented much more than a prayer, discernment, letting go, and hanging on. The acquaintance said, “I say this simple inspiration to myself at least three times per week.” In our Recovery we want signs, and at some level we all want signs. Yet signs of discord are all around us. Jealousy of Cain and Able shows itself in a bible story, divisions in the family, and persistent doubt in our hearts – it can all be too much.

Deciding to enter Recovery or working our program we may not want to see what is important because we are caught up in needing a definitive life of healing. This will never be for us but we will never be alone because Recovery is with us. “It is going to be o.k..” When our words fail, miraculous signs disappear and despair begins to creep in, we can look to our sign, “It’s going to be o.k..”

The message contained in this reflection is always answering for us things will be o.k. and trusting in that, well is faith. When we think about it faith is more significant than signs and wonders. It’s living knowing it is going to be o.k. it is acknowledging that our lives at some level may become a sign and wondering ourselves, Why? Because practicing Recovery is a love affair so we may have life and have it to the full.
