December 12, 2024 Pardon My Rudeness!

Time magazine writer Belinda Luscombe wrote an article on October 15, 2021 titled, “Why is everyone so rude right now”? https://time.com/6099906/rude-customers-pandemic/ It’s true we live in a rude society these days because people are anxious and frustrated all around us.

But we can never tire of small gestures of kindness. Martin (fictional name and story) was riding his bike one day and saw a beggar freezing in the cold (like today, -6 F) in skimpy and ragged clothes. Martin stopped, cut his clothes in half, and gave half to the beggar. Martin had a dream that night wearing half of his cloak, which triggered a desire for him to enter Recovery.

Martin returned home to engage his brother, mother, and others to establish a Recovery community. Our small gestures of kindness and self-control become so integral in becoming the best version of ourselves. It is about the power of forgiveness, the power of noticing, and the power of seeing the face of our Higher Power (God-Christ) in those around us.

Yes, small stuff matters. The mustard seeds are where Recovery often dwells. We meditate on the small gift of faith, turning into a blazing inferno of Recovery and love. Let us see the Higher Power’s faith in our ability to live.
