We are invited to dinner with Recovery. What is important is to look at Recovery before we accept the invitation. Recovery reminds us that our lives have purpose, meaning and that we are to be the world’s light. We are never to cover the light because if we cover the light then people cannot see our healing.
Recovery has given us this gift to be attractive to people and if we do it right we will be light to family, friends, and people we connect with. We can use an analogy of the eye seeing what is good. There is a movie called Avatar. The movie has two protagonists who say to each other, “I see you” and “I see you”. This seeing was deeper than their physical presence. This was a deeper view beyond our physical body. The beauty of us and spiritual creation allow us to see deeper and in turn how others see us.
During ancient times before eating it was a requirement to wash certain body parts. The question for us is, “How can we not do what we have traditionally done that is this cleansing before we eat?” A person looks at us and comments, “You worry so much about the outer parts of who we are, how to dress or comb our hair. What we see on the outside the true beauty and true light is that which is within.
The journey of Recovery takes great courage to be seen by others and to see beyond what our environment tells us who we are. If we do this and focus on what Recovery is seeing in one another the beauty, the light, the joy, the creation, the healing, and the happiness will be there for all of us to see and grow to be enlightened.
Cindy was at a talk between Muslims and Jews. She told them, “When we can love the children of our enemy soon we will not have any enemies”.
Cindy was at a retreat and the leader spoke wisely, “He spoke about seeing and understanding the most important things. Love centered around our spirituality is it, for once we love to look and see honestly within ourselves and see the truth and beauty within our neighbors we will cease to have enemies”.
