I hope you enjoyed the 4th of July holiday weekend. We spent time at my in-laws cabin with other family members. My father is moving into an Assisted Living Home today. He needs a lot of care despite the rehab he has been doing for the last five weeks. I find it sad to watch him make this transition. I think he is taking it better than I am. He will also not be allowed to drive at this point. We will have a better pulse on his new normal during the next three months. Please keep us in your prayers.
Fear is a powerful emotion that shapes our words and actions. Fear can motivate us or hinder our actions. How do we bring our fears to Recovery? We did not receive the spirit of cowardice but power, love, and self-control when we were born.
Bare our healing with the strength from Recovery and the relationships we form with people. The steps of Recovery are the antidote rooted in love and empowerment. Healing is aware of the hardship we experience. We may be persecuted by family, friends, and other people when we want to make a break from our old living environment.
Mark is 28 years old. He recently returned from an inpatient drug program. He feared whether he was strong enough to hold off the urges. He was committed to not losing the gains he made while in rehab. He moved to a different area, away from all the using relationships he once associated with. Some of these people include family members. A few of the family members, which include his father, said, “We must be too good for you now that you are back?”
There is a cost to being a person in Recovery. Our hardship is rooted in faith, love, and a desire to embrace our hearts in Recovery. When we ask in faith Recovery gives us strength, power, and self-control. Recovery is love and is stronger than our deepest persistent fears. The light of healing words acknowledges our biggest and smallest fears.
The light of healing offers us the grace to place our shortcomings within the 12 steps and take action to dissolve our fears. In Recovery, we follow the actions of others further along in Recovery as a model to overcome our fear.
