How do we reflect on our plan of Recovery? When we take action to Recover it is like, “Rain coming down from heaven, and it does not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish so that it yields seed (This is adapted from the retreat I completed on Tuesday).”
Recovery is not a set of rules we follow to get it right, but can stimulate our imagination and have us take personal responsibility for our mental health condition, addiction, and trauma.
I do several things to water, open my heart, and grow my Recovery. I mentioned in a previous blog what works for me. For those unable to remember what I do here is an overview; take prescribed medication, attend therapy, attend and facilitate support groups, write and be an author, connect to a faith community, eat healthy foods, and cuddle with the family’s dog (Sadi).
I believe it is important to not domesticate my healing just to make it comfortable for me. I need to be open to discomfort. For instance, my therapist has been encouraging me to do a series on mindfulness. For whatever reason I am resistant to engage in this activity. I have been kicking it around in my head for months. I need to get out of my head, enter the discomfort, and take action.
How do we bring our Recovery plan to life?
How do we give life to our Recovery plan?
Take some time to reflect on this and then take action
Peace
Larry
