I have been doing treatments for my gut health. The treatment takes about 75 minutes each time. Usually, other people are treated for various physical health conditions in the same room of the clinic.
Yesterday a person was receiving treatment to alleviate symptoms impacting their activities of daily living. The person was reading a book, “Dare to Lead” by Brene Brown. Brene is a researcher, storyteller, and (currently enraged) Texan who’s spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy. brenebrown.com
A staff member was serving this person and they had a conversation about mental health. The member of the staff said they were beginning a non-profit to offer services and healing for those of us with mental health conditions. I listened intently to both of them. Their dialogue made my heart skip since they were speaking my language.
They continued to dialogue with each other as they were leaving the treatment room. Too often I hear there is a lack of services available for those of us suffering from a mental health condition. This non-profit in the Chippewa Valley wants to increase resources for mental health you can access their website at www.redhouseofhope.com
When I completed my treatment yesterday I went to my car and brought a softcover of my book into the clinic. I requested the assistant to give a copy to the staff member who is beginning this non-profit adventure. I was pleased this morning to check my email and find the person wanted me to contact them.
Services such as this give us the hope we need to continue our journey of healing.
Peace
Larry
