October 26, 2023 Move Toward Our Recovery

Out of nowhere a few weeks ago, my old nemesis returned in the form of trauma. I focused on being kind to my mind and taking the necessary steps to manage my sadness and anxiety. Despite feeling like I was carrying a 100-pound rock, I appreciated the routines and consistent habits I’d been working on for several years.

When I have a day or even a week when I struggle I bounce back quicker than in the early years of my Recovery. Don’t get me wrong, it is never an easy endeavor to undertake. Regardless of how I am feeling I stick to my routines and habits. These include; 8 to 10 hours of sleep, clean eating, writing, attending appointments, exercise, recreation time, and prayer.

For those of us in Recovery let’s not look at our tasks as a heavy burden. Instead, it is the medicine we need to fall forward in our quest toward healing.

Peace

Larry
