I hope wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you right where you are.
The moment we entered Recovery was only the beginning of a new life. Every time we choose Recovery, we have another chance to experience healing and grow stronger in mind, body, and spirit.
Nothing changes our experience of Recovery more than the power of anticipation. More than half of the joy in any meaningful journey comes before it even begins. Think about planning a vacation, getting ready for a first date, or waiting for the birth of a child. Much of the joy comes from looking forward to what is ahead.
One of the greatest temptations in Recovery is to treat it like just another part of our daily routine instead of one of the most important moments of our day. We can move beyond that spiritual struggle by learning to build anticipation.
Before our daily time of reflection, we can quietly prepare our hearts. We can become aware of the deep hunger within our souls by entering a place of stillness in our heart, mind, body, and spirit.
We prepare for the things that matter most in life. Preparation builds anticipation, and anticipation fills our hearts with hope and joy. When we don’t prepare for Recovery, we miss much of the joy and healing it longs to give us.
Repeat this simple reflection throughout the day:
“Recovery increases my hope.”
Remember, Recovery is happening right now, in this moment.
