I hope wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you right where you are.
“This is the day Recovery has made; let us rejoice and be glad.” Each day we follow our Recovery plan is a reason to celebrate.
What do we approach with the same passion, commitment, and determination that we give to our hobbies or jobs? Often, the answer is very little. Yet Recovery gently calls us to live with that same steady focus and dedication, especially as we walk beside our peers in Recovery.
Every moment spent in Recovery—whether at a support group meeting or during quiet reflection—helps us see more clearly what truly matters and what does not. Sometimes we become confused about what is important in life, but Recovery wants to free us from that confusion.
Recovery clarity helps us focus on the right things. We get to choose who and what we care about, and those choices shape our future. Whatever we focus on will grow in our lives.
We are not meant to wander through life. Many of us have lived that way before, feeding every distraction that crossed our path. But now is the time to stop wandering and begin living with purpose through Recovery.
The passion, commitment, and steadfastness needed to practice Recovery take time to grow deep within our hearts and souls. There were times when the newness of Recovery faded, or when I began to feel better, and I stopped caring for my Recovery. During those times, I relapsed into depression, anxiety, and darkness.
Each time I relapsed, I became determined to return to the path of healing. I went back to support groups, adjusted my medication with guidance, ate healthier foods, and reconnected with family and friends. I also became intentional about spending time each day in devotion and reflection. As I practiced these healthy disciplines again, clarity slowly returned to my heart and soul.
The virtue of determination helps us stay focused and keep moving forward until we reach our goal. Even small steps matter. What is important is that we continue moving in the direction of healing, hope, and Recovery.
