I hope wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you right where you are.
Mary took a quiet walk in the woods. She sat on a rock to pray and reflect. She wondered if there was a way to avoid facing her mental health condition. In her prayer, she said, “Recovery, all things are possible with you. Please take this burden from me. Still, not what I want, but what you can do to heal my deep pain.”
Mary imagined holding a cup in her hands. Sometimes, the cup is filled with gladness—like when we raise a toast at a birthday or a wedding. Other times, the cup holds suffering and sorrow.
Now Mary comes to a moment of truth. She is like all of us. She stands at the hard place between saying we want to heal and doing the work to heal. Recovery is like a cup that brings balance. When we drink from it, we nourish ourselves with joy and peace. When we drink from it, we also gain strength to keep going through the hard work of Recovery.
When we choose to hold the cup and receive what is inside, we are saying,
“If you are with me, Recovery, I can accept and face whatever comes my way.”
Recovery is with us today, even when we must face the unknown. Come, join me at the table—the banquet of healing awaits a toast from us.
Remember, Recovery is here right now, in this very moment.
