December 10, 2025 “Turning Toward the Light of Recovery!”

I hope that wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you—right where you are.

What does it look like when we have a spiritual awakening through Recovery? When Recovery enters our lives, everything begins to change. The darkness that once shaped us starts to lose its power. Not because we fight harder, but because the light of healing begins to transform us from the inside out.

This awakening calls to our identity and invites us into something new. Recovery is a turning—a way of life. When we give ourselves to the 12-steps, we start to see life differently. We begin to understand, feel, and know in new ways. Recovery teaches us to turn away from what dims our hearts and to turn toward the light.

This turning is not harsh or sudden. It is gentle, daily, and steady. It is the simple choice to open our hearts to the presence of Recovery. Light reveals what darkness hides.

For the first twenty years of my Recovery, I lived in shadow and hurt. I was not ready to heal from the pain that lived inside me. Yes, I went to therapy, took my medication, and stayed active in Recovery. But something was still missing. Eleven years ago, everything changed. In the darkest moment of my life, I chose to surrender and seek the light.

That choice brought clarity and warmth. The light of Recovery shows us the truth. It reminds us who we really are. As we turn toward this light, we begin to see ourselves, others, and the world through the eyes of the 12-steps.

Turning toward the light means letting it touch the hidden parts of us—the fears we hold, the habits we battle, the thoughts that wear us down. When the light shines, it does not shame us. It frees us. And wherever we go, we show people the love growing inside us. We do this through the way we handle challenges, the compassion we offer, and the care we give to our own lives. Our light truly makes a difference.

Remember, Recovery is here, in this moment.
