I hope that wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you—right where you are.
Those of us who wait for healing will renew our strength. We will rise on wings like eagles. We will run and not grow weary. We will walk and not faint.
That’s a big promise! Waiting can feel like weakness. It can feel like we are doing nothing while others move ahead. But the spiritual meaning of waiting is very different. Waiting is not a weakness. Waiting is the place where Recovery renews our strength. It is where endurance is built. It is where God, or our Higher Power, prepares our hearts for what is coming next.
We live in a world that says, Do, do, do! But Recovery does not speak that way. Strength doesn’t come from pushing harder or doing more. Strength comes from waiting on Recovery. The place we try to avoid is often the place Recovery wants to empower us.
Most of us dislike waiting. We want answers now. But wanting is a spiritual exchange. We can bring our exhaustion, our questions, our limits, and all the efforts that no longer work to Recovery. When we come face-to-face with our own inabilities, Recovery gives us the strength to keep going.
Eagles soar because they rely on something greater than themselves. When we walk with Recovery, he lifts us. He does not push us to try harder. He is aware of the timelines and deadlines we impose on ourselves. Recovery reminds us that real strength is not found in constant movement—real strength is found in surrender.
Recovery invites us into a new posture. Be ready. He invites us to wait so he can strengthen us from the inside out. Our mission is to persevere and become the best version of ourselves. This doesn’t come from our own energy. It comes from our connection to the 12 Steps.
In waiting, we release control. In waiting, we trust the process. We see our limits not as failures but as openings where Recovery can flow into our hearts.
Consider the areas in our lives where we currently feel tired…. This is where Recovery wants to renew our strength.
Peace
Larry
