I hope that wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you—right where you are.
Daily devotionals guide our prayers, meditations, and reflections. Recovery leads us into mystery, and part of that mystery is timing.
We live in a world filled with deadlines, schedules, and pressure. We want answers fast, and we want them to be clear. When it comes to spiritual matters, we often hope God—or our Higher Power—will move quickly. We want clarity right away.
But Recovery sees the whole picture. We only see a small part. Recovery moves at the pace that is best for us because it knows what we need and when we need it.
For years, I prayed for God to bring a woman into my life who shared my love for the Catholic faith. I wandered in the desert for seven years before meeting the woman I had been praying for. During that time, I tried to trust God’s timing, though I admit I grew impatient. Now, more than ten years later, I continue to feel blessed to share both life and faith with my wife.
Recovery is never rushed, yet it is never late. Its timing feels perfect because its vision reaches far beyond what we can see. In the stillness of our prayer rooms or reflection chairs, we hear how the 12 steps can shape our lives.
Recovery is often a subtle process of weaving purpose and healing long before we notice anything happening. Do we realize that Recovery is already at work in our future? Its timing is perfect because it sees the whole picture—even when life feels slow or confusing. Recovery is arranging the details, shaping our circumstances, preparing our hearts, and forming us from within so we can receive its grace.
