We are blessed to live in a country where we can freely assemble. I imagine there are locations around the world where people are unable to access a mental health and substance misuse support group. The joy of Recovery can’t be contained in a single day – that’s why we have an entire lifetime. Recovery is the greatest journey we will ever take. During Recovery, we celebrate our resurrection from despair, our elevation to a new life, and the outpouring of God (our higher power) upon us.
It is believed that the word Recovery means to restore us to health. Recovery is symbolic of restoring our life-movement in the direction of reunifying our hearts and souls.
Unlike suffering, which is about mourning or hurting, Recovery is all about keeping joy awake in our hearts by placing people in our lives willing to support our efforts to heal.
